All primary care trusts (PCT) have a statutory duty to develop and publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) by 1 February 2011. This is a statement of the pharmaceutical need of the population in the area. It will ultimately become the basis of decisions made when applications are received for new pharmacies. The PNA will also help NHS Devon to ensure there is sufficient access to the services a pharmacy provides to meet the health needs of the population.
