NHS Devon (Devon Primary Care Trust as it was then) and Devon County Council combined forces in 2006 to create a joint directorate of Public Health. The Joint Director of Public Health works closely with other local NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, Exeter City Council and the seven District Councils in Devon, as well as the Police and the voluntary sector.
