Tissue Viability Service

Tissue Viability Service provides:

  • Clinical expertise to all health professionals in the healing of complex and highly complex wounds
  • Initiates clinical education on new wound therapies, dressings and procedures linked to evidenced based practice. 
  • Advocates for the service users.

 

Area covered: Exeter, East Devon, Mid Devon, and Plymouth facing communities. Torbay facing communities are covered by the South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

NHS Devon supports over 30 leg ulcer clinics run by district and practice nurses.

Tissue viability links in to most of them on a monthly basis, enabling nurses to maintain high standards of clinical knowledge, and maintain exceptional healing rates.

No where else in Great Britain can boast such a well recognized service for the community.

New nurse led Tissue Viability clinics established in Kingsbridge and Exmouth, to complement the long standing clinic held at Franklyn House on a Friday, clinics in Honiton and Tavistock are expected to start within the next 2 months.

On Tuesdays Franklyn House has the services of a Consultant dermatologist for a morning clinic aimed at reducing referrals to the acute hospital for both vascular and dermatological problems.
