Dentists provide care for your teeth and gums. They can provide pain relief, carry out extractions and fillings. Dentists also offer advice about maintaining oral healthcare.
NHS Dentists are open Monday to Friday in office hours. However, some may open on Saturday mornings or at different times. Please phone your local practice for details.
Dentists provide regular check ups on your teeth and gums. Part of their work involves teaching people to look after their teeth and gums in order to prevent problems. It also includes restoration of teeth damaged or lost by decay, trauma or other reasons, using a wide variety of techniques and materials.
Dental practices can take private and NHS patients, and most practices take a mixture of both. It is important to ring your Dentist to confirm the services that they provide and to make appointments.
“It is very important to attend a dentist regularly for periodic checkups on your teeth and gums. The specific interval recommended will vary from one person to another depending upon their own particular level of risk. “Part of our work involves helping people to look after their teeth and gums in order to prevent problems. Many practices have dental hygienists and some also have oral health educators helping with that important aspect of care. “Of course if you don’t have a dentist NHS Devon is now accepting patients right across the county, why not call 0845 002 0034 or 01392 822 348.” Bruce Pearson, a dentist in Tiverton
