People in Okehampton are being helped to get healthy through confidential, one-to-one clinics run by the NHS in
A new healthy lifestyle clinic is being launched at Parklands Leisure Centre in Okehampton on Friday 20 May 2011 and will be held at the leisure centre every Friday from 9am – 11am.
All the clinics are run by a team of health trainers, and are open to everyone over 16 on an appointment basis.
Victoria Banks, NHS health trainer in Okehampton, said: “If you are 16 years or over and are looking to become more active, want to eat a healthier diet, reduce your alcohol consumption or stop smoking, then our team of health trainers can help.
“We work alongside other health professionals to offer the community a flexible and accessible service.
“We are here to help you make positive changes in your life and to support you in working towards a healthier lifestyle.
“We run one-to-one clinics where we help people to develop a personal health plan and offer a six to eight week period of support and advice to help you achieve your goals.”
