Cervical cancer is not hereditary.
It is caused by a virus called the human papilloma virus or HPV.
Whilst the majority of HPV infections are cleared by the natural immune system, in the UK, approximately 3 women die as a result of cervical cancer every day.
There is now a vaccine available to protect against cervical cancer.
The vaccine is free to girls in Devon aged 12-18 and is currently offered in your school, and community clinics all over Devon.
If you haven’t yet started or need to complete your course, please contact us.
