We have 3 Early Response hubs, one in each locality (northern, southern and eastern).
The hubs are aimed at ensuring a consistent and efficient response to referrals regardless of which service the referral has been made to. The hubs co-ordinate incoming referrals and seek to ensure that the appropriate care pathways for referrals are accessed. All complex referrals are screened and discussed by a multi-disciplinary group of professionals, who decide on the appropriate response. These professionals include staff from within Integrated Children’s Services and from services outside it e.g. form acute hospitals, education and social care.
The hubs work in collaboration with social workers from Devon County Council Early Years and Families, and aim to support the multi-agency safeguarding hubs by ensuring a response to referrals which do not meeting immediate safeguarding criteria but which may meet child in need criteria.
In most cases referrals should have undergone a common assessment framework and team around the child meeting prior to specialist referral.
