Service User and Carer Involvement

NHS Devon, Devon County Council Adult and Community Services and Children and Young People Services have worked with partners to develop a joint approach to engagement and involving people.  They have produced a Strategy – The Joint Engagement Strategy – and are developing a web page where you can find out about getting involved and having your say - please see the Devon County Council website.

Devon Local Involvement Network (LINks)

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) were established from April 2008 to strengthen and extend the influence that local people have on health and social care services, and enable them to have a strong voice in how these services are planned and run.

There is one LINk for every local authority area in England.

LINk Devon is a network of groups and individuals who want to make sure that health and social care services are planned and delivered to meet the needs of the people in Devon.

Anyone can become involved with the LINk; health and care service users, voluntary organisations and community groups and individual members of the public.  The Local Involvement Network for Devon is supported by East Devon Volunteer Support Agency, an independent 'host organisation' commissioned by Devon County Council.

For further information see the LINk Devon website or email them at linkdevon@edvsa.org.uk

Have your say with LINks

If you feel passionately about local health and social care services or have experiences that you want to share (good or bad) so that services can better meet the needs of the people that use them, then please register your interest (instructions below).

By registering your interest you can choose to be kept informed.

Even if you are not interested right now, you can join the LINk at any point in the future by making contact when you want.

You can then choose to dip in and out of the LINks as it suits you.

How much or little you commit of your time and effort to LINks is up to you – no one will pressure you or expect more of you than you are able to give.

Why get involved with LINks

There are a number of benefits to becoming involved in a LINk, which include:

  • getting attention for neglected issues or ideas
  • drawing attention to those areas that work well
  • influencing those who make decisions about new or existing services
  • helping the community speak with a stronger local voice
  • helping services provide better care

How to register your interest with LINks

Whether you wish to be directly involved, or just kept up to date with progress, you should register your interest in the Devon Local Involvement Network (LINk).

You can do this by emailing LINk Devon at :linkdevon@edvsa.org.uk or phoning them on 01404 549045
